Serving the Charleston Lowcountry

Colonial shutters in Charleston.

Few details say "Charleston" quite like a pair of louvered shutters flanking a window. Shade Coast builds aluminum colonial shutters that capture that historic Lowcountry look — powder-coated, salt-air ready, and hinged to swing closed and latch when weather rolls in off the harbor.

Curb appeal, Charleston

Classic looks, modern materials.

Charleston's architecture rewards the right details. Shade Coast's colonial shutters give homes the timeless louvered look of traditional wood without the warping, rot, and repainting that wood brings in our humid, salty climate. Every model is aluminum with stainless steel fasteners and a powder-coated finish, so they hold their color and swing true season after season.

Hinged to mount on either side of an opening, colonial shutters can be closed and secured ahead of a storm for an added layer of protection — and they reopen to frame your windows the rest of the year. Choose from several blade profiles to match your home's era and style.

  • Thin Z-Blade Colonial — a slim 2" frame with a classic thin louver, ideal for cottages and traditional facades.
  • Low-Profile Tubular Blade — a clean 2¼" tubular louver that reads crisp and contemporary on newer construction.
  • Solid Impact Blade — a heavier blade tested to ASTM-E1886, E1996, and Missile Level D for added debris resistance, available in any RAL color.
